Dr. Gopinath became a member of BCCC in January 2020. She is a renowned educationist, academician and former Principal of the prestigious Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi. She is the founder and incumbent director of ‘Women in Security Conflict Management and Peace (WISCOMP)’. A former Member of the National Security Advisory Board, she was awarded the Padma Shri in 2007.
Dr. Gopinath studied Political Science at LSR College for Women. After doing her Masters from University of Massachusetts, she obtained her Ph.D. from University of Delhi. Earning a Fulbright Scholarship, she also did her post-doctoral research at Georgetown University.
She started her career as a faculty member at JNU and later joined LSR College for Women. She served as its Principal from 1988 to 2014. Besides numerous papers, she has written four books.
